Regine and other delights

It's still night.
But you can you can resign with this fate if you don't take the permanent dizziness as too personally. The solarium helps. And the game in the snow.

hajk motorcycle Regine
My snowmobile plays a superior role in this game. Actually, it's more a hike motorcycle, with the proud name REGINE. She has already reached a honourable age and I'm allowed to accompany her twelvth spring. There are two really amazing facts about her: her top speed of 120 km/h and the very simple operation. There's only the throttle. In the darkness driving is like playing a computer game. For cowards and chicken it's also equipped with a brake and a light, "warm-showerers" (people having warm showers) are even offered the grip warmer. But all that is not supposed to be used.

Cockpit
The view from the cockpit reveals that driving fun is dramatically increased by a close, better passionate and ardent relationship to snow. Resistence against coldness are also preferable. But if you want to visit the Arcitc for the silence's sake you won't make friends with snowmobiles.

Party!!!
If you understand internal contemplation as stopping at an inn in the internal houses, you have already come quite close to the miracle of the polar night. The darker it becomes, the earlier the afterwork mood is generated. (NB: contemplation and stop at an inn have the same expression in german ("Einkehr"), that's why this might sound a bit strange in English)

vessel under norwegian flag
Some sportsmen and -women were transported to Barentsburg in order to compete with the Russians there. This time the russian showed us, what a winner is. It was quite something. At least we were served vodka after the games.

Siesta under norwegian flag
Under norwegian flag you can't only travel the seas but also have a break. Here the italian Matteo O. from Verona at Troms airport. The northern light observatory caused our excursion there.

constructor's delight
In Troms they build rockets that snuffle dust e.g.. In the middle atmosphere dust is a big issue.

Wolf
Very in: the headwolf. It warms, looks great and it delivers an unbeatable arctic feeling. And if the wind is strong enough, you can even fly away (if you are well-behaved).

Idyll
Sometimes it's comfortable outside in winter. Near the old airport suddenly some chairs popped up inviting for a stop.

The dragon Grimnir
After almost all students had disappeared the need of creating additional inhabitants came up in Nybyen. The dragon Grimnir for example. He's a little timid when he sees cameras, that's why he looks away. But as he's so fat and cumbersome, I could take a fast picture before he left. He couldn't say hello to the new students. A short period of warmth scared him off. Since he hides in a deformed but ordinary pile of snow.

pasteboard-nose-juggler
As gravity is different in the Arctic you can juggle a lot better. Specifically the fifth ball has another weight, as long as you aren't cramped. It might be prooved that time is the indirect reason for the phenomenon. But that is sort of a common knowledge anyway. However, the children's circus of Longyearbyen was happy.
Furthermore everything has increased a lot, I really mean it, especially this year !!!
